Oh, what’s a high-school songbird to do? Those poor kids obsessed with Glee who have no musical outlet of their own, save a hairbrush and a mirror? Since the Gaslamp came under new management, the entertainment there has arguably diversified—though the majority of the fun is strictly for the 21-and-over crowd. Fortunately, those who are underage and still desperately clinging to the last glimmers of American Idol have Wednesday nights, when the Gaslamp stops checking IDs and starts up the karaoke machine. Karaoke! Wednesdays offers a huge stage, thousands of songs to choose from, a massive dance floor—it’s a teenage dream.
