Hunx and His Punx

For Hunx's latest album, Hairdresser Blues, he dropped the Punx, played everything but drums himself (that instrument went to Nu Sensae's Daniel Pitout), and dove into some yet-uncharted Hunx territory. Sure, there's still the wigs-glitter-thongs flamboyant rock that we can't get enough of, but there's a melancholy tenderness now that makes Hunx even more endearing. We love "Say Goodbye Before You Leave," a song written for his close friend, the late Jay Reatard. This show at the Glass House, however, is billed with His Punx, so though one or two songs might make for a somber slow dance, the majority of the performance is pure crazy Hunx magic—the zebra skivvies and smeared lipstick kind.
