'Hot Coffee'

Everyone remembers back in the '90s when that woman made headlines by suing McDonald’s (and winning) after spilling coffee in her lap and getting third-degree burns. Although Stella Liebeck and her hot coffee tend to be at the center of every frivolous lawsuit debate, there are always more sides to every story—and the documentary Hot Coffee explores this as well as the pursuit of justice in three other cases. First-time filmmaker and former public interest lawyer, Susan Salad's film continues to gain national attention since its HBO debut—and thanks to the Breast Cancer Angels organization, proceeds from this screening will go to help women in treatment for breast cancer access the justice system by donating money to cover their legal costs.
