Electric Boogaloo

Thanks to the rise of reality programming such as So You Think You Can Dance? and America's Best Dance Crew , hip-hop and freestyle dance have once again made their way into American's mainstream consciousness. Los Angeles-based dance crew Groovaloos bring their story to the Samueli Theater stage. And it's not just breakdancing and other street-based styles; the Groovaloos' eponymous stage show shares the diverse lives and stories of the dancers themselves, set to both music and spoken word. The individual résumés of the 14-member cast include everyone and everything from Prince to the Oprah Winfrey Show to Missy Elliott to Miley Cyrus, so you know they've got the chops to make the next 80 minutes of your life as compelling and energetic as possible. The entire show is family-friendly, so feel free to bring the kids-just know you'll probably have to stop them from breaking their necks on the living-room floor afterward.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 7:30 p.m.; Sundays, 3 p.m. Starts: June 5. Continues through June 16, 2008
