Eight Days

Thurs/June 17 Last time singer/songwriter/kick-ass guitarist Patty Griffin played the lovely and peaceful John Anson Ford Amphitheatre, I accidentally threw up down the side of a garbage can while a very glamorous, snooty chick made horrified faces at me because I clearly wasn't embarrassed enough already. Still, except for all the times I had to leave my seat to go vomit, the show was awesome, and my boyfriend at the time was really sweet about the whole thing. He'll probably be there this time, too. He's pretty much a groupie. Say hey for me! And ask Griffin to play “Making Pies”! (Oh, and she has a new album, too, so you might want to listen to some of that!) 8 p.m. Call for ticket prices. John Anson Ford Amphitheatre, 2580 Cahuenga Blvd. E., Hollywood, (323) 461-3673.

Fri You know who's all stuck-up and pretentious and full of himself and humorless like that lady who sneered at me while I was accidentally puking down the side of a trash can? David Cassidy! The formerly dreamy former teen idol (“I Think I Love You,” “Hey, Hey, We're the Partridges”) can't understand that people would like him a whole lot better if he would just put a self-deprecating and/or good-natured smile on his face instead of getting all pissed-off and snooty at fans who “pigeonhole” him. (He's like a proto-Vanilla Ice, raging at the world for having once loved him!) In other words, it would be a whole lot better if he acted a whole lot more like special guest Danny Bonaduce. Go for the kitsch value, and stay for the mocking! 8 p.m. $47.50-$57.50. All ages. The Grove of Anaheim, 2200 E. Katella Ave., Anaheim, (714) 712-2700. Sat See our friends (and a couple of OC's sexiest people, per this very paper!) Waxapplesopen for X! We will be backstage, making eyes at nice John Doeand trying to avoid the wrath of Exene! With the Smut Peddlers. 9 p.m. $27.50. Mouse House of Blues, 1530 S. Disneyland Dr., Anaheim, (714) 778-2583. Sun If your dad is like my dad, he's not really one for a “hike.” Make him go anyway! The fat old slob needs some cardio so he can live to a ripe and wonderful old age when you can wheel him out to the edge of the pier and dress him in a funny beanie, like my sister Sarah and I have always threatened hilariously to do! And this sounds just lovely: the Donna O'Neill Land Conservancy's Father's Day Summer Solstice Walk. Doesn't it? 6-8 p.m. Adults, $5; children, $2. Donna O'Neill Land Conservancy, off Hwy. 74, five miles east of the 5 fwy., (949) 489-9778; www.theconservancy.org. Mon Got money? Need sake? And maybe some food to sop it up before you go getting all Commie Girl on the poor nearest trash can? Try Thaifoon's Taste of Asia, where you'll experience a perfectly paired four-course menu prepared by executive chef Garrett Cho with a selection of Thaifoon's most premium chilled sakes. Learn the process, history and mystique behind the making of traditional Japanese sakes, and then drink them—a lot. Sake and hors d'oeuvres, 6:30 p.m.; dinner, 7 p.m. $55 per person, plus tax and tip. Thaifoon, Irvine Spectrum, 85 Fortune Dr., Irvine, (949) 585-0022. Tues Luckily for you, The Office is one of the few galleries that's open on a Tuesday, which is usually the day I'm scrambling to fill. Even luckier for you, the current show, “PSA: Objects/Images/Actions”by Finishing School is a small beauty of a show, all political and intricate and shit. Please to see it. 1-5 p.m. Free. The Office: An Art Space, 5122 Bolsa Ave., Ste. 110, Huntington Beach, (714) 767-5861. Wed The Saddleback Civic Light Opera presents Route 66, a revue that takes audience members on a trip back in time to the 1930s up until the 1960s, with songs like “Get Your Kicks on Route 66,” “Texaco Star Theme,” “Truck Stop Cutie,” “On the Road Again” and “King of the Road. I hope they do it kind of with English opera accents, like Rodney Gilfrey singing Curley in Oklahoma! at the Hollywood Bowl! 8:30 p.m. $24-$30. Saddleback College, Cabaret Theatre, 28000 Marguerite Pkwy., Mission Viejo, (949) 582-4656.

Or go see the real thing: alt.-country/roots rocker Robert Earl Keen and the most baddest man in countrytown, Junior Brown. 8 p.m. $27.50. The Grove of Anaheim, 2200 E. Katella Ave., Anaheim, (714) 712-2700; www.thegroveofanaheim.com.

Thurs/June 24 They sent me Dane Cook's CD. He's really funny. I don't really remember what it was about, but he does a really good imitation of a car squealing through a parking garage. And stuff. It was funny, really, and for some reason, I'm thinking he might be kind of hot. I'm tired. So tired. 8:30 p.m. $30. Through June 27. Brea Improv, 120 S. Brea Blvd., Brea, (714) 482-0700; www.improv.com.
