Eclectic Music Concert #46

Some call it dream pop but for the Year Zero it’s a visionary state. Singer Lili De La Mora steps past Mazzy Star and Young Marble toward clouds and soft light while guitarist/songwriter Rodney Sellars tiptoes behind, and between them they find that fragile few seconds each morning when you’re not sure if the real world has quite finished materializing yet. That’s a perfect fit for the Eclectic Company, which is accenting ethereality on this bill: Familiar Trees apply Broadcast-style textures over opened-wide guitar and piano, Oto dissolves gentle guitar and melodica into adorable instrumental pop and Scarlet Furies mix indie-folk with a bit of the engaging oddness and darkness of that ‘60s British tradition.
