Coco Avant Chanel

For fashionistas everywhere, Coco Chanel is a legend, known for her simple sophistication. Despite being abandoned by her father at age 12, Chanel managed to escape her humble beginnings, and with the help of a couple of wealthy men and some strategic moves, she reinvented herself as the glamorous woman the world has come to know. The 2009 French film, Coco Avant Chanel (Coco Before Chanel), retells Chanel’s journey from the orphanage to owning a fashion empire, and is screened at Santiago Canyon College as part of the school’s International Film Festival. So slip on that little black dress and come view the film nominated as the Best Foreign Language Film in the 2010 Broadcast Film Critics Association Awards.
