Cedric the Entertainer

Following Bernie Mac’s untimely passing in 2008, there are now three surviving members of the Original Kings of Comedy. While Steve Harvey is hosting game shows and D.L. Hughley has tried everything from CNN to Aaron Sorkin dramas, Cedric the Entertainer hasn’t strayed far from the billing in his moniker through comedic roles such as the voice of Maurice in the enduring Madagascar. His live-action ventures haven’t been quite as successful (Remember the 2005 Honeymooners? No?), but that may turn around soon—he’s part of the cast of Larry Crowne, a high-profile film out this summer starring Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts. Until then, though, Cedric is working to maintain his king-of-comedy status through standup dates such as this one at the Brea Improv.
