Aloe Blacc

Aloe Blacc is the type of musician that defies easy categorization. The start of his recording career was as an MC back in 1995 with the indie rap group, Emanon. His later years saw many collaborations with talented artists of varying genres and the launch of a successful solo career. These days, Aloe Blacc has evolved into a genre-bridging powerhouse. His Latin cover of John Legend's “Ordinary People” proves that, not only can this multi-instrumentalist produce, rap and sing, but he can so in Spanish too. His broad influences range from the folk stylings of Cat Stevens to the soul-stirring sounds of Otis Redding. Throw in a dash of intelligently composed hip-hop and you've got yourself a vague idea of Blacc's capacity as a recording artist.
