A Conversation with Piper Laurie

The Bowers Museum finally propels itself into cool with an interview of one of the finest actresses to ever grace the American screen. Piper Laurie wasn’t just Carrie White’s crazy-ass, religious-nut mother (though we certainly love her as that), she also wooed a slow pile of bricks named Mel Gibson (before we knew he was a crazy-ass, religious-nut racist) in the May-December romance Tim, and she had those little old Oscar-nominated parts in The Hustler and Children of a Lesser God—in addition to Carrie. The grande dame is on a book tour for her recently released autobiography, in which she reports, among other things, that Ronald Reagan stole her virginity (join the club), so prepare yourself for one illuminating afternoon of memorable tell-alls and gorgeous cinematic sultriness.
