Eve Ensler's seminal play has faced so much controversy and criticism since debuting in 1996 for its open discussion about taboo topics like rape, sexual violence, and of course, the nature of vaginas, but nearly twenty years later it's been produced in more than 48 languages and performed in almost 140 countries. Such renown also sparked the annual holiday V-Day, where all proceeds of the play’s ticket sales go toward women’s shelters and anti-violence groups. For two nights, the Frida Cinema brings forth Ensler’s production directed by Jennifer Salva, and while you can expect to enjoy Ensler’s episodic play with a talented cast, there’s also the added bonus of benefitting SAVS, Orange County’s Rape Crisis Center.
