There is a headstone in Ireland that reads, "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal." And so is the story of Harold and Maude, the 1972 cult film about a young man obsessed with death and his rambunctious 79-year-old girlfriend, set to the music of Cat Stevens. Should you favor the macabre this Valentine's Day (and we certainly do), join Long Beach Cinematheque and Lola's Mexican Cuisine as they present the 4th annual screening of this beloved classic—on the lush lawns of the historic Sunnyside Cemetery. For an additional treat, head to the graveyard early for a set of live Cat Stevens music from local artists (half an hour prior to the screening). Bring chairs, blankets and snacks. May the spirits of love be with you.
