While the rest of the country prepares for the Super Bowl with epic chip-and-dip platters, squares-betting, and couch potatoing, there's 20,000 people who choose to spend this Sunday morning doing something different. Every year, the Surf City Marathon takes over Huntington Beach (the longest stretch of uninterrupted coastline this side of the US) for the most picturesque winter marathon possible (especially given our uncommonly warm weather this month). And you don't have to jog with the crowd to enjoy the event (though you'd be sacrificing a signature surfboard medal!), there's live music and a beer garden for spectators. But, sports fans, fear not: the whole shebang ends with just enough time to get home for kickoff.
