There's a lot of star-powered support behind this production of The Secret Garden, opening this weekend at the Chance Theater. Based on one of the best children's novels of the last century, The Secret Garden musical adaptation was penned by Pulitzer-winning playwright Marsha Norman and in 1991 enjoyed a remarkable run on Broadway, grabbing awards stage right and stage left (including one for Daisy Eagan, the youngest female recipient of a Tony Award). It's the story of an orphaned girl sent to live with her antisocial uncle and bed-ridden cousin—and her delight in reviving a forgotten garden alongside a young gardener boy. Now, the Chance takes a crack at this timeless classic—and with such an enchanting story and imaginative score, they've got plenty to work with.
Fridays-Sundays. Starts: Nov. 29. Continues through Dec. 29, 2013
