Just as reliable as the lines for Black Friday sales starting at sundown, the Dana Point Turkey Trot transpires once again this Thanksgiving Day. Now in its 36th year, the Trot brings together folks of all ages to run off a few calories before the big feast and aid some charities along the way (this year's organizations include The Boys & Girls Club of Capistrano Valley; Dana Point 5th Marine Regiment Support Group; Family Assistance Ministries; and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 9934). There's a 10K, a 5K, the Kids' Gobble Wobble 1 Mile Race, a health and wellness expo and even a costume contest. With race courses along beautiful Dana Point Harbor and Doheny State Beach, this Thanksgiving Day run attracts big crowds: more than 16,000 runners are expected to participate. So if you plan on that third helping of pie tonight, register now and get some exercise in.
