For those in search of a little Halloween excitement, but not too keen on doing the theme-park shuffle, check out what Stages Theatre has in store this season. The Woman in Black follows the story of an evil spirit, dead-set on making the parents of a small town witness the deaths of their own children. An adaptation of the original 1983 novel, written by English author Susan Hill (who reportedly lost a child of her own), this morbid tale is presented under the direction of David Chorley and Jeff Kieviet. Though it may not pack the same bowel-evacuating terror of a Knott’s Scary Farm zombie maze, it certainly provides those in search of a unique Halloween experience with a taste of horror and a touch of culture.
Fridays-Sundays. Starts: Oct. 27. Continues through Nov. 10, 2013
