Blonde Redhead, the ethereal, painfully cool, dreampop alterna-noise trio sent to earth from another world (or maybe New York), have delicately walked the line between cultish obsession and full-fledged mega-stardom for years. Still one of our favorite bands to see live, Blonde Redhead are both graceful and wild—and their formula is undeniably fate: The band consists of vocalist/rhythm guitarist Kazu Makino; her husband Amedeo Pace on lead guitar; and his twin brother, Simone, on drums. This is the only band any of them have ever been in. Their eighth studio album, Penny Sparkle, is old compared to mainstream music standards (released three years ago), but to a die-hard Blonde Redhead fan, it's near immortal.
