Entering its eighth season, the Muckenthaler Jazz Festival concert series kicks off this week and continues for the next five Thursdays, showcasing tastes of jazz from around the world. Tonight's performance features fiery Latin jazz from Aguabella, a seven-piece ensemble stemmed from the Francisco Aguabella Latin Jazz Band. Scheduled acts for the coming weeks include Cowbop, a Western swing bebop group; jazz vocalist Janis Mann, and piano stylings from the Tateng Katindig Trio. This year's festival launches the first-ever Muckenthaler Jazz album, featuring jazz educator and fest co-founder Dr. Glenn Cashman, the entirety of which will be performed during the festival's final night in June. Jazz lovers have a long, hot summer ahead of them.
