As one of the most shocking murders of the last decade remains in the country's memory, films, books, and songs continue to be part of the conversation. But Tectonic Theater Project's original play is the most resonant document of the quiet (and not so quiet) voices of Laramie, Wyoming in the aftermath of gay student Matthew Shepard's death. Performed by hundreds of theater groups around the world (and even adapted into a film by HBO) The Laramie Project comes to the Chance Theater, along with the follow-up The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later. Even with the update, Laramie Project doesn’t feel outdated at all, especially in the wake of the recent Prop 8 debates and Supreme Court hearings. Utilizing only eight cast members, each one transforms into multiple characters, creating a unique storytelling experience with a powerful message.
Thursdays-Saturdays. Starts: April 18. Continues through May 19, 2013
