The Fourth Annual New Musical Festival returns to UC Irvine as part of the university’s alliance with the Academy of New Musicals. This year’s theme, Digital Natives Project, focuses on those born into a world driven by technology and features a “multimedia internet theatre musical e-graffiti platform.” The effects of technology in our lives—both good and bad—are explored in this series of performances spanning over three days. These original musicals are developed from start to finish at UC Irvine’s Claire Trevor School of the Arts with the help of the Academy of New Musicals. This unique partnership allows students to explore all aspects of creating a musical, and gives them the opportunity to work on what could become the next Broadway hit.
