It's a wonder why any cities in the US attempt to put on a Mardi Gras event. You are not N'awlins. You didn't emerge out of the mighty Mississippi drenched in slavery and French accouterments. Your city doesn't have vampires, ghost stories and more than one house where people were kept under floorboards. And you certainly, most certainly do not have Bourbon Street. But, if you can get past all that, attend the Mardi Gras party at the OC Fairgrounds for a masquerade party, food, live music and dancing. The hours alone are rather PC but you can get drunk and get beads! Plus, you won't be so tightly packed in that you get pick-pocketed and are subject to a fire hazard at the same time. As far as boobies go, however, just like in N'awlins—keep your eyes peeled.
