How the months fly by. It's time once again for the Orange County Music Awards' annual live music showcase, a series of free concerts leading up to the big trophy ceremony held in March. Each week, a slew of local bands—some you've heard of, some you haven't—vie for that coveted Best Live Band award and prize pack. This week's showcase, held at the District Tustin Legacy (each show is at a different OC venue), features hopeful contestants Annie McQueen, Becky Holt, Cherokee Fade, Alice Wallace and Justin Soileau. Judges rate performances on a series of skills—originality, song composition, crowd participation, and so on—to determine who plays the finals at the House of Blues in late February. Who knows? One of these starry-eyed musicians might just make it to the big time—and it all could start right here.
