The title sounds like something you would yell at a guy who just jacked your purse on the subway. “It's him! The motherfucker with the hat!” This play does take place in New York City, but the jerk with the hat is much more coy. Written by award-winning playwright Stephen Adly Guirgis, this is the story of Jackie, fresh out of the slammer and in AA. While trying to keep himself afloat, he returns to Veronica, the love of his life since 8th grade. Unfortunately for Jackie, Veronica's got a bit of a drug problem, and also has a mysterious, unidentified, man hat on her bedside table. While she won't let on who the hat belongs to, we can guess it's the motherfucker's—whoever and wherever he is. Directed by Michael John Garcés, it's a pretty funny show. Just make sure you can handle big-kid words.
