Complete with live symphony orchestra, children's choir, special guest dancers, and about a million brightly-colored tutus, the Long Beach Ballet's rendition of The Nutcracker is hailed as the most successful performance in SoCal—and this year, the show celebrates its esteemed 30th anniversary. Helmed by Artistic Director David Wilcox, this whimsical story about a dreamy little girl, a nutcracker prince and a mouse king is gilded with a cast of more than 200, a real horse, a flying sleigh, scenery created by former Disney designers, and some pyrotechnics (you know, just for good measure). "We have everything I can think of to make it thrilling," states Wilcox. We'd like to think Tchaikovsky would approve.
