The gloriously kitschy tale of Santa kidnapped by aliens (and the doomsday possibility that children may not get any presents on Christmas morning) comes back to the Maverick for their annual holiday theater production. And what better fodder for a mind-boggling, over-the-top stage show than one of the worst films ever made? (Plan 9 From Outer Space recently had a good run at the theater, too.) But sitting through the original 1964 sci-fi-schlock film isn't nearly as fun as this live Christmas spectacular starring St. Nick, a troupe of meddling martians led by the evil Kimar, and two schlubby human kids named Billy and Betty. The Nutcracker always has a special place during the season—but this is our kind of holiday tradition.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m. Starts: Dec. 7. Continues through Dec. 23, 2012
