Full disclosure: We’re jealous as fuck of Gregg Allman for two reasons. No. 1: At Fillmore East. No. 2: Cher. The man was enjoying her dark, exotic favors back before plastic surgery turned her into Wayne Newton’s weird-looking sister. (Today, she looks to have had more touch-ups than a ’51 Chevy.) Allman looks just what he is—a rocker and blues man with more than 40 years on the road. This weekend, he’s in good company with the likes of the Steve Miller Band, Buddy Guy, Johnny Winter and West Coast icons Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers. There are three stages, microbrews and a wine lounge, international eats and 30,000 people. Demand to hear "Whipping Post," just don’t get moonstruck.
