On a recent trip to Indio, I was struggling to carry several bulky items through a crowded store to the front registers. Not one, not two, but three people (other customers, not store employees) offered to help me wrangle my stuff. (Note to the store in question: Provide decent-sized shopping carts, maybe?) On top of that, I somehow managed to drop my cell phone during this time, which I did not discover until I got out to my car. When I went to the Customer Service counter inside the store, I found that someone had actually turned in my cell phone. So a big shout-out to the folks of the Coachella Valley. You have just bolstered my husband's campaign to convince me to forsake Orange County and retire in the desert.
