Much like the brilliance of the pinwheel galaxy that is their namesake, French musician Anthony Gonzalez's electro-indie band M83 shines bright in the darkness that is today's popular music. Their recent success is due in large part to 2011 single "Midnight City," the catchy song that scored the band a ranking of 74th on the Billboard Top 100 chart last year and placed them at number one on both Stereogum and Pitchfork's lists of the Best Songs of 2011. And sister paper The Village Voice designated the single number four on their Pazz and Jop poll. Unlike M83's namesake though, you wont have to grab binoculars to see the brilliance. Just pop by the Fox Theater in Pomona and marvel.
