The Blues Brothers

Irvine Barclay Theater

Whatever happened to music with soul? We're talking about rhythm and blues. We're talking about Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin—the type of music that finds a way under your skin, seeps into your central nervous system, and illuminates your spirit. So where can you find this musical reverie nowadays? Head to Barclay Theatre and watch Jake and Elwood—the characters made famous by John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd—as they get the band back together in The Blues Brothers musical. Now, the original London cast (where the play was an absolute smash) reconvenes in Irvine and recreates the best moments from the original movie. You’ll hear all the classics—"Respect," "Give Me Some Lovin’," and "Soul Man"—while Jake, Elwood, and the sassy Bluettes remind you about the birth of cool and the true American rhythm programmed in our genetics.
