As Long Beach becomes more bike friendly and as more people ride bikes theft is without a doubt becoming more and more of a problem in Long Beach. We are working with the police to do what we can. But unfortunately their is not a lot that can be done. Please...lock your bike with a very solid lock in a place that is visible to people passing by. We recommend a U lock with a cable through the wheels.

And if you are looking for a very reasonably priced used bike check out The Hub on Long Beach Boulevard just south of PCH. It is a non-profit organization that refurbishes bikes and sells them back to the community at a very low cost. http://hublb.com/

This could be a really cool way for police to arrest the bike thief too. See, first step, act reasonable, and make the guy feel guilty, then when he returns the bike, and is dumb enough to put is contact details on the bike, the LB Police can arrest him on the spot.

Where can we get in touch with this person? They sound so rational, level headed and not bitter . I'm sure one of us has a spare bike to give them. We none scum people need to look out for those affected by scum.
