Buena Park’s retro-electro pop duo We Are/She Is (the name is an answer to the obvious question provoked by earlier project He’s Not Gay) make the kind of KROQ music KROQ built its name on with big-beat drums, oscillating keyboards and the kind of digi-toned harmonies the Bangles and the Go-Go’s would have been all over if only the technology was there. They’re up for an OCMA Best Live Band award, most likely because the second thing they’ll say in interviews is about energetic crowd participation. If you heard a certain happy-sad Feist-y hook on The Real L Word, well, that was them, too. Wear bright colors when you go to this one.
