The true identity of Talking With…’s playwright is a bit of a mystery—Jane Martin is rumored as the pen name of Jon Jory, a retired Actors Theatre of Louisville artistic director, but Jory insists Martin is just a Kentucky native who wishes to remain anonymous. Although the truth may never surface, Talking With… is a touching tale told by a variety of women. The play consists of a series of monologues in which 10 women reveal intimate details of their personal lives and hardships, leading to both an emotional and comical result. Directed by the well-respected Fred Ponzlov, Talking With… is sure to resonate with all in attendance as it focuses on “overcoming life’s inevitable transitions”—something we all can relate to.
