Though Gomez is a rock band through and through, their moody layered jams have the quirky habit of being a little unnerving. Maybe its the ghostly backing vocals, the angular, shuffling strumming or singer Ian Ball's occasionally computer-tweaked voice. Whatever it is, enjoy the eclectic mix of folk, psychedelic and Americana courtesy of the band's multiple songwriters. And if you should feel uncomfortable during your listening experience, just keep telling yourself, "they're only songs."
