Any work coming from award-winning actor/writer/comedian Steve Martin is pretty much a hit upon conception, and The Underpantsis no exception. Originally written by Carl Sternheim in the early 1900s and adapted by Martin in 2002, The Underpants makes its Long Beach Playhouse debut. Flowing with sexual innuendo, the satire follows Louise Maske, a married housewife who finds her bloomers have fallen down to her ankles . . . in public. After the scandal, her husband, Theo, worries about losing his job and reputation around town. What follows is a comedic journey of love, lust and, of course, sexual tension.
Thursdays-Sundays, 2 & 8 p.m. Starts: Aug. 18. Continues through Sept. 10, 2011
