More About
Let us now congratulate artist Sandow Birk, long lauded locally for his imaginative (and resonant) alternate-world work such as American Quran and Divine Comedy, in which Dante is a dude in a hoodie stumbling around the streets of California hell. This year, the venerable Pageant of the Masters is exploring the world of make-believe, which includes living-picture reenactments of Birks The Great War of the Californias series, which imagined in touching and hilarious detail a war between NoCal and SoCal and debuted at the Laguna Art Museum in 2000. You, sir, will now have actual humans in extravagant costume bringing your artwork to lifeand you, sir, have arrived. The annual event also features living versions of pulp sci-fi covers from Amazing Stories in the 20s. The pageant is fucking awesome!
