Tarte Cosmetics' 'True Blood'-Inspired Makeup Is Fang-tastic!

[Trendzilla] Look like your favorite Bon Temps characters for cheap—but good!

Remember the Twilight DuWop Lip Venom lip gloss that came out last year? This is better than that.

Tarte Cosmetics has introduced a brand-new, limited-edition collaboration inspired by the hit television series True Blood. The collection is available in lots of—you guessed it—blood-red, and it has more credibility than just some cute vampire-y, Bon Temps names (Fairy, Werewolf, Waitress, Nocturnal, V, Glamour Me, Stake. . .). Everything available is approved by the show's Emmy award-winning lead makeup artist, Brigette Myre-Ellis.

The largest item in the Tarte for True Blood collaboration is the palette set, which supposedly has a value of $331, but you can get it for the low, low price of $52. It includes 17 eye-shadow colors infused with "Amazonian clay" (no, really, that's what it says) that range from the soft and shimmery to deep, matte blacks and sparkly crimsons. And just beneath that tray of eye shadow is a small pull-out drawer with EmphasEYES, Tarte's aqua-gel eyeliner; a tube of mascara called Lights, Camera, Lashes!; and Lifted eye primer.

But Tarte's most popular product is its long-lasting cheek stain. It has released a special edition that's glittery (but not too glittery) and red. And it contains natural mineral pigments and fruit extracts. And no synthetic fragrance. While it seems a little steep for your cheeks at $30, this giant tube will last you for well more than a year—promise. The advantages of a cheek stain over blush? It'll hang on from morning to night and can look a lot more natural than traditional powdered blushes when applied correctly.

And based on the True Blood season-four opener that just aired, this makeup line seems a hell of a lot more fun than this season will be. More of that fairy world, Alan Ball? Really?
