Roughly three years since Pierce Brosnan’s infamous “musical” performance in the Mamma Mia! film, perhaps it’s time to revisit a stage version of the still-popular jukebox musical that’s filled to its genial brim with the music of ABBA. The tone-deaf former James Bond didn’t hurt the show’s staying power, as it’s still going strong on Broadway and touring around the country, including a six-day stint at Segerstrom Center for the Arts. And more than likely, the film’s an explanation for the last time you heard “Dancing Queen” in a bar or witnessed a drunken karaoke attempt at “Take a Chance on Me.” Kaye Tuckerman, who plays the lead role of Donna in the touring production, served as Carrie-Anne Moss’s stand-in for The Matrix Reloaded—a franchise crossover no one reasonably could have expected.
