More About

In the 1970s, San Francisco gave birth to arch-punk satirists the Tubes—and what the Tubes brought to the world was a theatrical, chaotic live stage show, White Punks on Dope, and the alter-ego known as Quay Lewd. A cult following came soon after, as well as banishment from several venues in England—only making the strange allure of the band that much harder to resist. The ’80s saw the Tubes make a questionable veer into mainstream (remember “She’s a Beauty”?), but also gave them the momentum to keep the act going. Check them out at the Galaxy this week, but we’ll go ahead and answer your question now: Yeah, they’ve still got it.
