In the 1970s, San Francisco gave birth to arch-punk satirists the Tubesand what the Tubes brought to the world was a theatrical, chaotic live stage show, White Punks on Dope, and the alter-ego known as Quay Lewd. A cult following came soon after, as well as banishment from several venues in Englandonly making the strange allure of the band that much harder to resist. The 80s saw the Tubes make a questionable veer into mainstream (remember Shes a Beauty?), but also gave them the momentum to keep the act going. Check them out at the Galaxy this week, but well go ahead and answer your question now: Yeah, theyve still got it.
