OC Fashion Week hits the streets with its first incarnation in Downtown Santa Ana. Through Sunday, the public is invited to the city’s Artists Village to delight in fashion shows, lectures and parties. Put on by the OC Fashion Association, which claims the county has “been cast aside as a wasteland devoid of culture and style,” the fest has some high aspirations. It hopes to “affirm Orange County as a major player in the world’s fashion industry”—and with exhibits such as “Corsets In Modern Fashion,” we don’t think the average Orange Countian is going to complain much about the effort. On Thursday, May 19, a discussion on fashion’s production and fair trade features speakers Bobbi Lee of Beach Bunny swimwear and Bonnie Kim of Freedom & Fashion.
