Few people know the name of astronomer Henrietta Leavitt, but in the early 1900sa time when females were not accepted as astronomers and couldnt even touch a telescopeshe managed to make discoveries that changed the way we view the universe. Lauren Gundersons play Silent Sky is an adaptation of Leavitts life, beginning with her taking a dream job at the Harvard College Observatory, only to realize shes stuck working as a computer (charting the stars) with the rest of her female colleagues. The play chronicles her struggle to have her theories heardlet alone be acceptedas well as her journey to find answers on life, love and the possibility of Heaven.
