Remembering Watergate: A Conversation

Nixon Library

Everyone dreads running into an arch-nemesis. Luckily for Bob Woodward—one of the journalists who reported the Watergate scandal that eventually led to President Nixon taking an early leave of office—his visit this week to the Richard Nixon Library comes nearly 17 years after our late president’s passing. “When they opened the library [in 1990], the then-director said I was banned,” Woodward has said. But time heals all wounds as the wise folks say, and with that, the new library director welcomes Woodward with open arms to the unveiling of their newly remodeled Watergate exhibit. This Monday, Woodward (along with former Washington Posteditor Ben Bradlee) answers questions from the audience—but won’t reveal the identity of Deep Throat, mostly because Deep Throat already revealed himself a couple of years ago.
