Good thing you’re from OC, where beach punk was born and persists against the depredations of a thousand Internet bands with their own same-y take on polluting the ocean. Gestapo Khazi have deep record collections and contribute with gusto and honor to one of California’s most potent kinds of punk: smashing out fast, strange, loud songs that would have once had SST, Frontier and Slash all trying to get a bite. Outside OC, bands such as the Wipers, Crime and the Dicks had this same vibe—complete commitment, complete confidence, complete capability for ripping. Burger’s new compilation cassette Written In the Will collects odds and sods, and the debut LP is on deck, so the beach is safe for humans again.
