Daughter of Sicilian princess Topazia Alliata di Salaparuta, Dacia Maraini is an Italian novelist, philanthropist, playwright, muse and poet. She is well-known for such award-winning works as Isolina and La Lunga Vita di Marianna Ucria (which won Italy’s Book of the Year); a multi-decade companionship with author Alberto Moravia; and for the Teatro della Maddalena, her experimental theater company run solely by women. Maraini will be at Chapman University as part of the school’s John Fowles Literary Forum to read some of her favorite poetry, discuss the impressive accomplishments of her life and sign her books.
