Amigo, where do you get the idea that latinos are not motivated to work hard and try to better their and their families' lots? (Rhetorical, actually I know the answer.) Rather than paying attention to Limduh and his ilk I look at the people araound me in our commmunity. Examples jump out at me like the Bernardinos, immigrants from Mexico (that's D. F.). Wenceslau came here with essentially nothing, worked in a local restaurant in the ktichen cleaning crew, worked (underlined, bolded) his way up, learning the whole time what running a restaurant and taking care of the customers is about, opened a taqueria, and now has the taqueria and a restaurant, and his son (who WORKED in the family business) now has HIS own restaurant. an example of one family only but not all that unusual and I could provide more, space allowing, but that would still be anecdotal. My point is that stereotyping constitutes lazy thinking and doesn't capture reality.
