Macbeth

Waltmar Theatre, Chapman University

Conspiracies and really assertive females . . . power, betrayal and blind ambition . . . fate, fortune, madness and love. Does that describe your last year of school—or your present job? Either way, this gripping 400-year-old epic could be ripped from today’s headlines for its insight into human tendencies and current issues. Macbeth reflects on the need to survive and rebuild in the wake of devastation. The Bard’s darkest and most brutal tragedy features regicide, witches and warlocks, prophecies, murderous sidekicks, and supremely poetic language—and includes our particular nomination for the Shakespeare Top 10: “Something wicked this way comes.” If that doesn’t refer to the boss, we don’t know what the fuck does.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 7:30 p.m. Starts: Feb. 17. Continues through Feb. 26, 2011
