With stints in Operation Ivy, Rancid, Dance Hall Crashers and Social Distortion among his credits, bassist Matt Freeman must qualify for some kind of punk-rock bingo. (See Dave Good’s “About Damn Time.”) Though he’s still with Rancid, he’s currently touring with Devils Brigade. The band formed back in 2000, but they didn’t release a proper full-length until late last summer. So what makes Devils Brigade different from Rancid? Much more of a psychobilly bent, as made clear by song titles such as “Vampire Girl” and “Half Way to Hell.”
