Pete Townshenda legend for his career as the guitarist and songwriter for the Whotook the iconic bands 1969 double album, Tommy, and created the aptly named rock musical we all know today. Its a story of hope, healing and the human spirit through a young boys journey from pain to triumph, according to Townsends notes, and its set to the songs of the Grammy Hall of Fame-inducted rock-opera album. Since the musicals San Diego debut in 1992, The Whos Tommy has won a handful of coveted Tony awards, including Best Score and Best Choreography. The performance makes a stop in Costa Mesa this week, where you can surely expect a night of epic rock & rollbut no Armenia In the Sky, alas.
