When humorist David Sedaris teams up with little sister Amy, incredibly bizarre comedy is in the cards. Would you expect less from a stalwart Luddite and a ribald actress—both of whom exhibit obsessive-compulsive tendencies? The theatrical fruit of this genetically bonded creative marriage is the play The Book of Liz. Directed by Mike Brown, the story follows the exploits and tribulations of Sister Elizabeth Donderstock, raised in a religious compound and sheltered from the world. But Donderstock has a talent—she’s the creator of a lucrative type of cheeseball, which comes in two flavors: traditional and smoky. After the commune’s leader, the Reverend Tollhouse, hijacks her operation, she strikes out on her own to make it in the real world. We won’t give the whole thing away, but her first encounter out there is with an individual dressed as Mr. Peanut. Deliciously droll.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: Feb. 11. Continues through Feb. 27, 2011
