Ty Segall has ironically raised the bar on an unlikely songwriting convention: low-fidelity recording. Yep, the '60s-inspired garage songster plays stripped-down, buzzy, dirty-guitar fuzz punk, augmented by a kick-ass, verbed-out voice. The singer's rough howl is at times reminiscent of '60s surf band the Trashmen, who played Anaheim's Guitar Geek Festival Jan. 15.
