Herding cats is more than just a figure of speech for Gregory Popovich; it’s a job description. The champion juggler and circus performer adopted dozens of former stray cats and dogs, lovingly trained them with positive reinforcement (like cookies), and provided them with a new life in show business. His new wards payed Popovich back, and not just with hugs and snuggles: Comedy Pet Theater has traveled the world, performing in more than 20 countries. His four-legged friends execute all kinds of adorable little skills such as jumping rope, skateboarding and working obstacle courses. This week, the show that People magazine called “genius” comes to the Irvine Barclay Theatre to delight the old and young alike—plus, $5 from every ticket purchased for the Sunday show is donated to the Irvine Animal Care Center.
